Thierry Charon, partner and tax adviser, has been a member of Loyens & Loeff’s Executive Board from October 2018 to 2022. Together with Bram Linnartz, he made up the Executive Board.

For more than 30 years, Thierry has specialised in VAT, customs, excise duties, international trade matters, real estate and in transfer pricing matters. He also advises clients on real estate transactions. His clients are mainly from the automotive, finance (securitisations, holdings, investment funds) and real estate sectors across Europe. He also counsels international organisations and foundations on indirect taxes matters.
He is the Chairman of the European VAT Club and a member of the VAT Expert Group of the European Commission. He is also member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Instituut van de Accountants en Belastingconsulenten (IAB).
He is mentioned in his field of expertise as a leading expert by ITR World Tax and ITR Tax Controversy Leaders. Thierry is rated “Highly Regarded” by International Tax Review (ITR) as a leader in Indirect Tax (ITR Indirect Tax Leaders Guide 2021).

Thierry was a member of Loyens & Loeff’s Executive Board from October 2018 to October 2022. He was co-head of Loyens & Loeff’s VAT, Customs & International Trade Practice Group in the Benelux. He was also a Lecturer in VAT law at the Brussels Tax College (FHS) affiliated with the KU Leuven from 2008 to 2022. He was a member of the Global Legal Customs Association (GLCA) and recognised as an expert in tax law by the Best Lawyers guide (2017) and Legal 500 EMEA.
