Of Counsel - Tax Adviser
Hans Bakker (1947), tax adviser, (semi-retired) is a member of the Loyens & Loeff Tax practice group. He specializes in Dutch and international corporate taxation and focuses on resolving (major) disputes between taxpayer and tax administration.
Hans has been of counsel to Loyens & Loeff (Amsterdam) since 2000, advising large corporations in the Netherlands and the US, as well as his colleagues.
Hans joined the Dutch Tax Administration in 1974 and moved to the Ministry of Finance in 1981, working as deputy Director Direct Taxes and adviser to the Tax Minister before moving to Loyens&Loeff. From 1988 to 1994 he was chairman of the Taxhaven Co-ordination Group, responsible for major break-through Supreme Court cases. He was also co-responsible for the winning of two major fiscal state aid cases in 1995-1999.
Hans has been secretary of the tax committee of the CDA political party since 2002. He is a regular contributor to a major tax journal. He is well connected with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and the (tax section of) the Netherlands business association VNO-NCW.
