Quoted: FDI Screening in the Netherlands

As a result of globalisation and digitalisation, geopolitics, investments, and (national) security have become increasingly intertwined. This new dynamic has raised concerns about undesirable foreign interference. To protect national security, the Netherlands has, as many other countries, several FDI screening mechanisms: (i) a general FDI screening and (ii) a sector specific mechanism for the energy (electricity and gas) sector and (iii) a sector specific screening mechanism for the telecommunication sector.
