Jan-Baptist joined Loyens & Loeff in 2025 and deals with matters related to general administrative law, public procurement, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and infrastructure projects. Jan-Baptist advises as well as represents clients in court.

Before coming to Loyens & Loeff, Jan-Baptist wrote a doctoral thesis on judicial review of governmental and company discretion, which allowed him to gain expertise in a wide ranges of topics, such as constitutional law, general administrative law, corporate law and contract law.

As part of his doctoral research, Jan-Baptist has published on various topics in administrative and contract law in national and international publications. He remains affiliated to KU Leuven as a voluntary research collaborator and as a substitute professor. He is also a member of the Sabin Center for Climate Litigation at Columbia Law School where he serves as a rapporteur for climate cases at the European Court of Justice. Jan-Baptist previously served as a submissions and lead editor at the Yale Journal on Regulation, the leading specialized journal in the United States on energy and environmental law, among other things. He was also a visiting researcher at Yale Law School and a member of the Yale Center of Environmental Law & Policy, as a research assistant for prof. Daniel Esty.
