In recent decades, sustainability has gained an increasingly prominent role in politics, society and business. Transparency is always highlighted in the (proposed) sustainability legislation as one of the means to achieve the formulated objectives. The idea being that, by requiring adequate reporting, the company management will provide information, and thus be accountable, to the stakeholders of the company.
