On 25 April 2024, the House of Representatives passed the 'Affordable Rent Act'. This act aims to regulate the rents of a much larger part of the rental market. Previously, the 'buy-to-let protection' was included in the Housing Act. In the last two years experience has been gained on the possibilities that the ‘buy-to-let protection’ offers for preserving the availability of low- and mid-priced housing for the owner-occupied market.
