The new Book 9 of the Belgian Civil Code entered into force on 1 January 2026 and introduces a modern, unified framework for personal security interests.
Book 9 aims at enhancing legal certainty and contractual freedom while codifying established practices and adding innovations such as specific rules for autonomous and consumer guarantees.
During this seminar, we will explore the impact of Book 9 on documentation and daily practice of company lawyers, developers and financial institutions active on this topic. We focus on the key changes and pitfalls and give practical insights.
