Bram Linnartz, Managing Partner Loyens & Loeff: “How does the future facing General Counsel respond to the needs of its board, the needs of their team and the innovation agenda? We are seeing many changes in the legal world, and they will change the future role of the General Counsel. We are excited to work with The Legal 500 in bringing this year’s GC Summit to Zurich. Keynote speaker Mo Zain Ajaz, will share his view on the role of the GC as an integrator, bringing together the different needs within a business. We value organising a quality event for GCs in our up and coming home market, Switzerland, giving general counsels the opportunity to connect and discuss the latest developments in their field of expertise.”

Commenting on the partnership, David Goulthorpe, Managing Director, The Legal 500 said:

“The Legal 500 are delighted to be working with Loyens & Loeff as our partner for GC Summit Switzerland in May and are grateful for their support of this event which Swiss General Counsel tell us they find so relevant and valuable.”

The GC Summit will be held at the Baur au Lac on 22 May 2019.

Mo Zain Ajaz, Global Head of Legal Operational Excellence of National Grid, one of the world largest utilities companies, will be the keynote speaker. Mo will be speaking about the role of the General Counsel as an ultimate integrator, responding to the needs of the board, the needs of the legal team and the innovation agenda. During the keynote, Mo will share with the attendees his legal journey including the benefits of Lean methodology and how effective change management is essential when transforming a people business. We will also be hosting a panel discussion on how law firms and in-house can collaborate more to achieve win-win situations.

The Legal 500 developed the GC Summit Switzerland event following discussions with our GC Powerlist community over 4 years ago. The events have a unique format: keynote speaker, panel of experienced Swiss based General Counsel and informal peer to peer knowledge sharing. The keynote shares perspectives relating to the strategic and tactical challenges General Counsel face as their role changes, the keynote speaker joins a panel of illustrious Swiss based GCs who give their response to the topic, earthed in their experience. General Counsels have found this forum to be an excellent source of inspiration, a challenge to do things differently and excellent source of peer support. We look forward to meeting up with General Counsel in Switzerland on 22 May.
