Thomas Chellingsworth is a local partner of the Energy and Infrastructure practice group in our office in Belgium. He is recognised as a leading energy law expert, with extensive experience of electricity and gas projects and litigation.

Thomas' practice focuses on the energy sector, including in particular renewable energy projects (onshore and offshore wind, biomass/biosteam), security of supply (capacity mechanisms, strategic reserves), grid tariffs, subsidy mechanisms (such as green certificates and, including State aid issues), domain concessions and licences, district heating, contracts (including corporate PPAs and FIDIC agreements), litigation and judicial review (Council of State, Markets Court, Brussels Court of Appeal, Constitutional Court).
Thomas also has considerable experience in the field of competition law, with over thirty merger filings with the European Commission, the Belgian and the Dutch competition authorities.
He is the author of several articles and publications about energy and competition law.
Thomas speaks annually at the 'Energy Law Capita Selecta' conference and contributes to the Energy Law Annual.
