The building, which is shaped like an hourglass and owned by Bouwinvest, is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. Hourglass is located at Parnassusweg in the Amsterdam Zuidas financial district; it will be 80 metres high and have 18 storeys. Of the about 21,000 m2 of lettable floor area, Loyens & Loeff will take up 15,500 m2.

Loyens & Loeff will occupy most of the ground level, as well as floors one through eight. The first floor will have a restaurant, conference rooms and meeting spaces. There will also be a patio and a large auditorium for client events. Loyens & Loeff will also rent the two top floors, which will offer a conference centre and a rooftop deck. The other floors will house an extended-stay hotel and a restaurant that will be open to the public, among other amenities. Once completed, Hourglass will be awarded a BREEAM-NL Excellent rating.

Gert-Wim van de Meent, member of the Executive Board: “Our clients are expressing a growing need for integrated tax and legal services, geared to the countries where they operate. We can only offer these services when we collaborate closely with each other and with our clients. With this in mind, we’re increasingly putting together teams of varying compositions with tax and legal experts from the different countries where we have a presence. We want our buildings to demonstrate this dynamic. They also have to offer the space and facilities our talented people need to feel at home and to develop their full potential. Hourglass meets all these requirements, which is why we can’t wait to move to our new building in 2020!”
