Strong track record

For its USD 20 billion debt restructuring, Brazilian telecom company Oi relied on Loyens & Loeff’s broad experience in restructuring and insolvency proceedings. This debt restructuring was the largest-ever in Latin-America. After several years of intense negotiations with debt and equity stakeholders, our team assisted in the offer of two composition plans in the Dutch judicial insolvency proceedings of Oi’s financing companies. Both plans were approved by the creditors and subsequently ratified by the Amsterdam District Court, as an important element of Oi’s global restructuring.

Successful English scheme of arrangement

Loyens & Loeff advised the syncreon group, a globally operating provider of supply chain services, with its debt restructuring through an English scheme of arrangement. Completed in October 2019, this was the first time an English scheme of arrangement was used for an international organisation primarily based in the United States and headquartered in the Netherlands. Our team acted as Dutch counsel to the syncreon Group.
