Loyens & Loeff’s regulatory ‘triangle’ consolidates top rankings in 2020 Legal 500

Loyens & Loeff’s Healthcare, Life Sciences and Food & Beverages Teams proudly announce the consolidation of their top (tier 1) rankings for the Netherlands in the 2020 edition of Legal 500.

We are extremely proud of this achievement. We express our warm thanks to our clients and peers for this recognition, as well as to all members of these three teams for the hard work to make this achievement possible.

Loyens & Loeff’s healthcare practice is the largest in the Netherlands and offers its experience and expertise in healthcare regulation, market access, proceedings, and transactions in the industry. The team monitors developments and trends in the sector, and is ideally placed to advise our (often multinational) clients’ specific situations. The Healthcare Team works in close cooperation with the Life Sciences Team, which combines the skills of attorneys, tax advisers and civil law notaries that have extensive experience in the sector. This allows us to provide advice in a proactive and pragmatic manner, enabling our clients to capitalise on business opportunities. According to Legal 500, the ‘Good results’ achieved in this way justify a renewal of our tier 1 ranking.

Our Healthcare and Life Sciences Teams operate in close cooperation, often sharing specialists and expertise, with our Food & Beverages Team. Food law has grown beyond a simple regulatory activity, and is now captured within a wider legal and tax context. The growth in importance of food regulations requires dedicated legal advice and support. Our specialist team guides food and business operators through this legal landscape. Perhaps more than ever in the current COVID-19 crisis, the boundaries between the life sciences and food sectors are blurring. In this context, Loyens & Loeff stands out for having top rated practices across this regulatory board. In its comment to our renewed tier 1 ranking for 2020 in the Food category, Legal 500 therefore praises our ‘cross-sector expertise in highly regulated areas including the life sciences and healthcare industries’. In fact, we are one of only two firms in the Netherlands with tier 1 ratings in Legal 500 in both the Healthcare & Life Sciences and Food categories. This underlines our multidisciplinary quality in these vital sectors of the economy.

We look forward –more than ever in the current challenging climate that the healthcare, life sciences and food sectors are facing – to work on maintaining our standards of service in the next year and assist our clients in the difficulties they are facing and their admirable initiatives to overcome these difficulties.
