Loyens & Loeff advises BTS Torres on the expansion of the 4G network in South America
Loyens & Loeff has advised BTS Torres GmbH on all Swiss and Dutch related matters in connection with its telecommunication infrastructure project in Ecuador and Peru for the installation of 2,300 telecommunication towers.
Loyens & Loeff acted as legal advisor to BTS Torres Group (BTS), a leading Latin American telecommunications tower operator, in obtaining a multi-million debt financing from the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) as well as on other corporate and commercial law aspects. The facility will support financing a project that involves the construction and operation of telecommunications towers in Peru and Ecuador to upgrade the currently underdeveloped network in order to meet the demand for 4G mobile network coverage.
BTS builds and operates telecommunication towers under long-term contracts with leading customers in Latin America such as Claro, Telefonica and DirecTV. BTS currently operates towers in Peru, Mexico, Nicaragua and Colombia, and is backed by a prominent U.S. based emerging markets private equity fund, a U.S. family office and IFC.
