Energy Team achieves once again top-tier rankings in the Legal 500 EMEA

The Legal 500 EMEA international independent ranking directory on law firms published its annual guide on 10 April 2019. Our Belgian Energy Team has again been ranked as a Tier 1 law firm in the “Industry focus: energy”-category and our Energy Regulatory Team in the Netherlands moved up from a Tier 2-ranking in 2018 to a Tier 1-ranking in the “Energy: regulatory”-category. In addition, our Dutch energy transactional capabilities maintained its Tier 2 recognition.

Energy Team achieves once again top-tier rankings in the Legal 500 EMEA

An extract from the Legal 500 commenting on our Belgian Energy Team:

Loyens & Loeff's energy sector practice group is headed by Thomas Chellingsworth and handles a range of construction projects, corporate and M&A transactions, financing and disputes. The group also has a strong track record advising clients in the sector on state aid issues. Associate Christine Delagaye is a key name to note for renewable energy matters.

In addition to the team’s rankings, two of our Energy Team members were again ranked individually: Thomas Chellingsworth as a Leading Individual and Christine Delagaye as a Next Generation Lawyer.

With respect to our Dutch Energy Team, the Legal 500 stated:

Loyens & Loeff offers impressive multi-disciplinary expertise to clients in the oil and gas, utilities, and renewables sectors, as well as advising some of the largest distribution network operators in the Netherlands. Max Oosterhuis  and counsel Roland de Vlam provide a wealth of experience in domestic and EU regulatory regimes; the team successfully represented Stedin in two Supreme Court proceedings against Chemours on the ownership of transformers. It is also advising a client in civil and regulatory proceedings regarding the re-routing of a key drinking water pipeline. Jan-Willem van Rooij is also a notable practitioner on both transactional and regulatory matters.

Loyens & Loeff provides its clients, including buyers, sellers, and investors in the energy sector, with multi-disciplinary advice in relation to M&A transactions in the oil and gas, utilities and renewables sectors. Team head, Jan-Willem van Rooij is advising exploration company ONE (Oranje-Nassau Energy) in a complex transaction in the oil and gas sector whereby the client will acquire operational responsibility for the GEms area of the North Sea. EU and national energy specialist Max Oosterhuis is also a noted team member.

Throughout the years, the Loyens & Loeff Energy Team has consistently been ranked by the Legal 500 EMEA as a leading firm in Belgium and the Netherlands.

We would like to thank our clients and our peers for their trust in our energy practice as well as their recommendations. The whole team is committed to continuing to provide client-focused, efficient and high quality services.
