Chambers & Partners HNW 2018: Firm wide rankings

Today Chambers & Partners High Net Worth (HNW) has published its rankings for 2018. We are pleased to announce that we have reached good results and that we maintain our leading position as an integrated legal and tax law firm in the Netherlands. We are ranked in Band 1 within the Private Wealth Law category of Chambers & Partners HNW.

This year our Belgium and Luxembourg practice entered the ranking for the first time. In Belgium we have been ranked in Band 2 and in Luxembourg we have been ranked in Band 1 within the Private Wealth Law category. We are very happy with the wide spread of this success.

Loyens & Loeff's family-owned business and private wealth group is seen as "top-notch" by its peers. "They have a very strong private client practice in Luxembourg. They have vast expertise of the market and a strong team of lawyers," says a source.

Guido Derckx is lauded for combining his private client expertise with broader tax knowledge, with one interviewee noting that "he does it well and he is technically and commercially good." One interviewee reports that "he has strong relationship with his clients, he has a breadth of expertise and he handles himself well." Another says: "He has good international knowledge. He has a good grasp of the subject and can explain it very clearly to clients."

Pieter Van Onzenoort "is the leading notary public in our field," enthuses a source, adding that "he has deep experience and broad knowledge." He is widely praised for estate planning expertise and regularly advises affluent individuals and families. "His knowledge is very broad and he is very service-minded," says a source: "He has a good understanding of the delicate questions of the clients." Another notes: "He is technically strong and the clients he has, he has for a long period of time. They are very happy."


Saskia Lust leads the department in Belgium and is described as being "well connected" and having "a great network across Western Europe." She advises on a range of private wealth issues, with a focus on international wealth planning and migration. "She is an expert and highly professional," comments an interviewee, adding: "I appreciate everything she does for us; she is prudent and forthcoming in her approach." Another source enthuses: "She is very thorough, clear and practical in her advice. She will apply the law and advise you. She is very pleasant and professional. She is my first choice always, no hesitation at all."


Cécile Henlé is highlighted for her "strong technical ability and experience in the market." She provides trusted council on international tax planning issues for family business owners and wealthy sports and media personalities. Henlé also experience in tax litigation matters. "She is a good listener, she understands the request, gives detailed answers and explains any problems that may arise," says a source.
