Saskia co-heads the Family Owned Business and Private Wealth Practice Group of Loyens & Loeff in Belgium.
She advises high net worth individuals and families on wealth optimisation techniques, both domestically and internationally. She specialises in international wealth and inheritance planning and focuses both on the civil law and fiscal law aspects. In particular, she advises on immigration and emigration, and specifically on the (re)structuring of wealth in an international context. Saskia is an expert in international asset structuring through holdings, foundations and trusts.
As a member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, Saskia is recognised as a “Trust and Estate Practitioner” (TEP). She has been appointed as member of the STEP BeNeLux Committee for the year 2018/2019. She is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
Saskia is recognised as expert in her field by Chambers & Partners (High-Net-Worth-Individuals Guide) and the Who’s Who Legal. She also won the Lexology Content Marketing Award 2019 in the “Legal Influencer for Private client – Europe” category.
Saskia has published several articles on estate planning, and she is a speaker at conferences on wealth planning. She was the speaker for Belgium at the first Benelux STEP conference in Luxembourg on September 25 and 26, 2017 with a presentation on “The Belgian Cayman Tax: impact on wealth and estate planning in Belgium”.
Saskia has been a member of the Brussels Bar (Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten) since 2000.
Saskia is a partner of Loyens & Loeff since 2006.
Saskia holds a Law degree (1991) from KU Leuven and a Tax Law degree (1992) from Université libre de Bruxelles.
