Maxime is a member of the Loyens & Loeff International Tax Services Practice Group in Belgium. He is also a member of the Loyens & Loeff German Desk and a co-founder of the Startup Team.

Maxime’s practice covers a broad range of Belgian and international tax law matters. They include among others: mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, private equity transactions as well as domestic and international tax restructuring. He has also developed an expertise in financial transaction tax, in establishing and restructuring alternative employee compensation plans (eg, stock option plans, flexible reward plans), implementing innovation-related tax incentives and government grants as well as in compliance in the fields of corporate income tax and withholding tax. Maxime represents clients in tax audit and tax litigation, and negotiates binding ruling decisions with the Belgian tax administration.

Maxime also regularly assists startups and their founders/investors.

Maxime has been a member of the Brussels Bar (Nederlandse Orde van Advocaten) since 2012.


Maxime holds an LL.M in tax from the Université libre de Bruxelles (2012, Belgium), a Master in Law from the Universiteit Gent (2011, Belgium) and Hofstra University (2010, New York, United States), as well as a Bachelor in Law from the Universiteit Gent (2009, Belgium).
