Lilian Welling-Steffens, attorney at law and senior legal counsel, is a member of the Banking & Finance group. She specialises in secured financing, structured financing, restructuring and insolvency and is an expert in the area of private international law. She previously worked for Loyens & Loeff from 1997 through to 2005 in the Banking & Finance Department and was an associate professor of law at the University of Amsterdam and the Catholic University of Malawi and the University of Malawi between 2004 and 2015.
Lilian is an affiliated lecturer at the department of Private Law of the University of Amsterdam and provides a Master of laws course on Property and Insolvency Law and supervises Master theses on insolvency law topics. She is also an affiliated lecturer at the department of Private International Law of the Leiden University and supervises bachelor and Master theses on private international law topics. She furthermore lectures on issues of private international law in the Grotius specialisation course in securities law. She is an annotator for "Ins Updates Insolventierecht" of Bju.
