Content of the Class

Intellectual property and trade secret protection deserves to be on top of the agenda in the food sector. The given protection is relevant as from the production of ingredients and the development of recipes to the labelling, marketing and branding of the finished product. Using a practical and dynamic approach, we will highlight the advantages, conditions and pitfalls relating to the use of trademarks, patents, designations of origin and other efficient tools to preserve the unique character, value and quality of your food or beverage products. Particular attention will be given to the topics dealt with in the highest courts in the Benelux and in the European Union.

Speakers

Yves Van Couter, partner in charge, is a member of the Loyens & Loeff Litigation & Risk Management Practice Group. His expertise lies in commercial law, intellectual property law, distribution law and market practices.

Joost van Helvoirt, partner, is a member of the Loyens & Loeff General Tax Practice. He specialises in Dutch corporate tax and cross-border investments and business activities between Germany and the Netherlands.

Charline van Hoeck, associate, is a member of the Loyens & Loeff Litigation & Risk Management Practice Group and specialises in intellectual property law and market practices.

Costs

  • The Food Law Classes are graciously offered to Loyens & Loeff clients.

  • Other companies participate in the costs for the amount of EUR 345,- (excl. VAT) per class or EUR 2.900,- (excl. VAT) for 10 classes (applicable in case of registration at once).

  • The Food Law Classes will be open to law or science Master students (free of charge, admission upon motivation letter).
