On Tuesday 10 April 2018 we are organizing an breakfast seminar regarding the European Simple, Transparent and Standardised Securitisations Regulation as adopted in December 2017 and that will enter into force in 2019. We will also brief you on recent developments in the European finance practice and an outlook for 2018.
Resulting from the significant role of securitisation products played in the US subprime mortgage crisis beginning in 2007, European securitisation markets have remained subdued since the collapse of this market in Europe in 2008. Central banks and policymakers are calling for a revival of high-quality securitisation contributing to lower cost of capital, higher economic growth and a broader disruption of risks. As part of the capital markets union action plan, the European Commission proposed two legislative measures to promote a safe and liquid market for securitisation:
- The simple, transparent and standardised securitisations regulation; and
- An amendment to the regulation on capital requirements for banks.
During this breakfast seminar we will focus on the simple, transparent and standardised securitisations regulation.
