For Belgium the Energy Team was awarded a Tier 1 listing.

According to Legal 500: A ‘top-notch team in the Belgian energy sector’, Loyens & Loeff is ‘able to mobilise an impressive legal machine to get the job done, never compromising on quality’. The ‘very client-oriented’ group is praised for taking a ‘pragmatic, helicopter view approach’. The broad practice takes in litigation, projects, regulatory matters, financing and public law. The ‘very meticulous’ practice head Thomas Chellingsworth, who ‘leads the team with a great deal of expertise’, ‘up-and-coming’ senior associate Christine Delagaye and Banking and finance partner Marc Vermylen, active in renewable energy project financing, received individual recognition.

The Energy Team in the Netherlands was awarded Tier 2 listings (Regulatory and Transactional). According to Legal500, the team is recognised as a ‘creative’ practice and ‘top-notch’ department. It is noteworthy that the ‘calm, and hands-onJan-Willem van Rooij and Waldo Kapoen were recognised in the Transactional category. In the Regulatory category, Jan-Willem van Rooij, tax specialist Jan Bart Schober and regulatory counsel Roland de Vlam were mentioned and also the ‘iconicMax Oosterhuis received praise.

In addition to the team’s rankings, two of our Energy Team members were ranked individually: Thomas Chellingsworth as a Leading Individual and Christine Delagaye as a Next Generation Lawyer.

Since the Legal 500 legal directory rankings are based, among others, on research into and interviews with clients and leading practice lawyers in the energy market, the Energy Team would like to thank our clients and peers for their input and recommendations which resulted in these top rankings.
