Sharing experience: Luxembourg corporate governance presentation for banks in emerging markets
On June 7, 2019, Anne-Marie Nicolas and Michael Schweiger represented the Luxembourg Institute of Directors (ILA), speaking on the topic of Corporate Governance for Banks, at the request of the Luxembourg Agency for Financial Technology Transfer (ATTF).
Each year, the Agency for Financial Technology Transfer (ATTF) organises an annual 5-day training programme in Luxembourg for board members and C-level executives who travel from abroad. This year, 25 participants attended from Eastern Europe, Cape Verde, and Mongolia. The speakers presented European developments in corporate governance for banks, including case-studies and examples. Participants discussed the evolution of banking in Luxembourg and abroad, as well as recent changes in regulation. They also exchanged perspectives on the corporate governance of banks in Europe and their home jurisdictions.
The ATTF’s mission is to be the partner of choice for the Luxembourg state in the field of knowledge transfer from its economy to its selection of partner countries which are predominantly developing countries. The Agency supports development and fights poverty whilst highlighting Luxembourg’s expertise in finance, offers continuing professional training opportunities and helps business develop employee’s knowledge and skills.
