Multi-disciplinary team Loyens & Loeff contributed to COVID-19 app

Amsterdam, 9 July 2020 - In March 2020, the Dutch government announced it wanted to investigate the possibility of a contact-tracing app that warns people if they have been in contact with a person who (later) tested positive for COVID-19.

This app aims to help slow down the rate of transmission of COVID-19. At Loyens & Loeff, we always like to be part of the solution. That is why we decided to become part of the open source initiative PrivateTracer.org. We formed a multi-disciplinary team consisting of 17 people from our Corporate, Privacy, Healthcare, Banking & Finance, and Tax departments, to work pro-bono on the development of the app. The initiative was further supported by, amongst others, Microsoft, the Municipality of the Hague, UMCG, LUMC and YesDelft!

We've really enjoyed working alongside these partners in such an inspiring project, and are happy that the app which builds on elements of the PrivateTracer initiative is now being tested and expected to be launched soon.
