Legal framework for the export of encrypted products in Belgium and Luxembourg

WorldECR is publishing the first book focused solely on global encryption export controls – a must-have publication for any company, exporting, manufacturing or distributing tangible or intangible products that use encryption technology, regardless of its complexity or sophistication.

World Encryption Controls describes in detail the regulatory, licensing and policy frameworks for the export of encrypted products in 20+ jurisdictions (including the European Union). Indeed, many users, adept at navigating, e.g., US legislation but unfamiliar with the law elsewhere, may be surprised to discover the spectrum of approaches, definitions, and requirements pertaining to encryption export controls around the world – even within the
European Union.

As the book’s Consulting Editor, Gil Rosen of Israeli law firm Joseph Shem Tov & Co. points out:
‘There is some consensus, as reflected in the Wassenaar Arrangement’s list of controlled dual-use goods, but some countries are still relatively new to adopting legal and regulatory controls on encryption technology while others are more advanced. Many countries concern themselves only with the control of exports while other countries…seek to control much more.’

We have every confidence that this innovative, ground-breaking publication will prove to be an invaluable helpmate to those working in compliance not only in the broad range of companies in the ITC sector, but also for more
traditional businesses , for whom encryption technology has become an everyday and essential aspect of their activities.
