The new Belgian Code on Companies and Associations is a game changer

The Belgian legal environment is rapidly changing. The Belgian Minister of Justice, Koen Geens, sought to modernise Belgian legislation, in particular company law.

These last weeks, and especially since the second advice of the Council of State on 13 September 2018, discussions intensified regarding the upcoming new Code of Companies and Associations.

Although a few hot topics still remain debated, our firm along with other leading practitioners strongly supports the upcoming overhaul in company law in order to boost the attractiveness and competitiveness of Belgian companies and associations.

The draft law is expected to be voted in Parliament before the end of this month.
