Loyens & Loeff present recent fund developments during a European Tour

The Loyens & Loeff Fund Team has assisted the Loyens & Loeff local offices in organising four successful Benelux Fund Regimes Breakfast Seminars in London, Paris, Geneva and Zurich. Many clients and contacts attended these sessions to be informed about the latest regulatory, legal and tax developments in the Benelux investment fund market.

Main topics of the seminars were an introduction to the Luxembourg ‘specialised investment fund’ (SIF) regime and the Dutch ‘vrijgestelde beleggingsinstelling’ (VBI) regime. With an interactive presentation of the local regulatory, legal and tax requirements as a basis, the opportunities of these regimes for private equity, private property, hedge funds and alternative asset classes could be illustrated best. To help the participants decide which regime fits best given particular needs, the presentations were concluded with a discussion between a panel of specialists and the attendants comprehensively comparing the main European fund vehicles.

Luxembourg and The Netherlands have recently introduced new investment fund regimes: the Luxembourg Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) and the Dutch Tax Exempt Investment Fund (VBI). Furthermore, the existing regimes have been improved. These changes are aimed at offering more flexibility from an operational, regulatory and tax perspective to European private equity and investment funds.
