Yves Van Couter (1967), attorney, is a member of the Commercial law, IP, ICT and media law, Life sciences and Automotive practice groups. He specialises in international commercial law, with a strong emphasis on intellectual property and distribution matters. He provides legal advice in relation to franchises, sponsorship and merchandising arrangements, technology transfers, and trademark law, and is involved in related dispute resolution. Yves is currently a professor of commercial law and intellectual property law at the Vlaamse Economische Hogeschool (VLEKHO) and teaches an introduction to intellectual property law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB- ‘Investing in Europe. The Benelux as a gateway’). He is also an arbitrator with the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva and with CEPANI in Belgium. He is the author of a numerous publications on intellectual property law and commercial contracts. He is a member of the Brussels Bar.
