Philip W. van Verschuer (1960), attorney, is a member of the Corporate/M&A practice group. He specialises in public and private M&A transactions, private equity and national and international joint ventures. He has been involved in several high-profile national and international transactions in the telecom and energy sector. He acted as lead counsel for the selling shareholders in the first privatisation in the energy production sector in the Netherlands and was also lead counsel in the largest transaction in the energy distribution sector. Other transactions include the representations of the NYSE Group in its merger with Euronext NV, of Bain Capital in its investment in the Philip's Semiconductor division NXP jointly with KKR, Silver Lake, Apax and Alpinvest and of CVC and KKR in their acquisition of two of the largest waste management companies in the Netherlands. His recent engagements include the divestment by Casino of its interest in retail group Super de Boer and the sale by General Atlantic Partners of the internet payment service provider GlobalCollect Services. He was managing partner of the New York office from 1991 to 1996.

Philip is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the New York State Bar. He frequently lectures and has published various articles in the area of public and private M&A.
