The CEE Desk is one of the international desks maintained by Loyens & Loeff. It is the platform within our firm where – through our long-standing experience – we have pooled a profound knowledge of both inbound and outbound transactions with respect to the CEE.
With the accession of the first CEE countries to the European Union, we have seen an increased flow of inbound and outbound investments in the region. To gain more insight in development in the CEE region, Loyens & Loeff established a CEE Desk in 2002
The CEE Desk comprises a team of enthusiastic attorneys and tax lawyers with extensive experience in advising clients on transactions relating to the CEE market. The members of the Desk focus strongly on CEE clients who invest or trade in Europe or other regions, as well as on international companies and financial institutions that want to expand their businesses to the CEE region. The Desk is made up of members of various Loyens & Loeff practice groups. The experience of the members as regards the CEE market is combined with their extensive knowledge of various fields of law, such as international tax law, corporate structuring, banking and securities law, employment law and regulatory law. In addition to being part of the CEE Desk, the members also participate in Loyens & Loeff teams that focus on specific industries and sectors, such as energy, real estate, M&A, private equity, corporate finance and financial products.
As both the Netherlands and Luxembourg are often ideal locations for, among others, intermediary holdings or financing companies, the Desk is involved in many investment structures in the CEE. Although we do not take advantage of offices in countries in this region, we work together with the leading law firms in each country. The members of the Desk frequently travel to the region to maintain our contacts with these law firms and our clients.
