Enforcement & Sanctions litigation

In the corporate and financial world, public enforcement of regulations has increased dramatically in recent years. Be it through criminal prosecution, through administrative or civil (penalty) procedures, this is a world wide phenomena. Sarbanes-Oxley, international treaties to combat (cross border) corruption, money laundering and (the financing of ) terrorism and more sophisticated international cooperation between (tax) authorities are just a few examples of developments that should lead to augmented awareness, better preparation and readiness to act for all (corporate) Loyens & Loeff clients where international enforcement and sanctions are concerned.

Loyens & Loeff prides itself on a well equipped team, the Enforcement & Sanctions team, that offers clients all over the world legal assistance in situations where (international) authorities investigate and judge (breaches of) regulatory issues, in tax matters as well as in all other legal areas. Our services vary from compliance related and pro-active advice (for instance: how to establish administration and bookkeeping procedures that are both compliant and discrete), to Supreme Court (tax) litigation. Although the Team's focus lies with Dutch and European regulatory and tax law, its excellent network with renowned legal advisers all over the world enable the team to offer state of the art opinions and advice, irrespective of the jurisdiction at hand.

The team consists of some 30 partners and (senior) associates, based in our Amsterdam and Rotterdam offices. Our specialists are lawyers and tax advisors. Several team members have extensive experience as government officials in investigation, tax control, legislation and financial-economic prosecution.
