Bartjan R. Zoetmulder, tax partner, heads up Loyens & Loeff's CEE team and Russia/CIS team, as well as the US REIT and the Hotel team. He specialises in pan-European tax structuring of investments with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Dutch real estate. His current clients include mostly foreign investors such as US REITs, European real estate investors and other foreign (mainly CEE and Russian/CIS) or Dutch-based, internationally operating groups. He has in-depth knowledge of tax planning involving the Netherlands and Luxembourg vis-a-vis Central and Eastern Europe, Malta and Cyprus as well as Russia and the former CIS countries. He has been closely involved in the tax ruling practice, mainly for international holding and financing company structures. Moreover, he worked at the Tokyo office from 1995 to 1998.

Bartjan is a board member of the Dutch Tax Laywers Association (NOB), chairman of NOB's International Tax Affairs committee, board member of Dujat (Dutch-Japanese Trade Federation) and member of the Dutch Real Estate Tax Lawyers Association, the International Bar Association (IBA), and NAREIT. He is a frequently asked lecturer and writer on international tax planning, particularly in relation to pan-European structuring for US REITs and investments in Central and Eastern Europe.
