Loyens & Loeff hires Edward de Lange, attorney, to boost IT practice 

The attorney Edward de Lange (38) joined Loyens & Loeff’s Rotterdam office on 1 November 2008. He is senior attorney in the Technology, Media & Litigation practice group and comes to us from the law firm Simmons & Simmons.

De Lange will specialise in setting up, evaluating and negotiating IT contracts, ensuring outsourcing transactions proceed smoothly, and advising on and litigating in IT disputes. He will also advise on IT-related law and legislation, including copyrights, e-commerce and protection of personal data and privacy.

His previous experience includes working at Simmons & Simmons’ IE/IT practice in Rotterdam for five years. Before that, he worked at two other law firms and at an IT consultancy. De Lange studied Dutch law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed a post-doctoral course in information science at the Grotius Academy and a post-doctoral course in New Telecommunications Law at the Eggens Institute.

He is coauthor of “Juridische Aspecten van de Informatievoorziening” (Academic Service 2002), publishes articles regularly and lectures on IT law. He is a member of the Netherlands Association of Computer Lawyers (VIRA) and the Netherlands Association for Information Technology and Law (NVvIR).
