AMSTERDAM / ROTTERDAM – The composition of the Executive Board of the legal and tax service provider Loyens & Loeff N.V. has changed. Maarten van der Weijden (46), tax adviser, has been appointed Chairman. He succeeds Pim Bertels, who was at the end of his term as chairman. Hendrik van Druten, attorney, also resigned from the Executive Board and will be succeeded by civil law notary Hamith Breedveld (56).
Maarten van der Weijden joined the firm Loyens & Volkmaars in 1987, and was made partner in 1997.
Before being appointed Chairman, he was a member of Loyens & Loeff’s international tax practice. He was the resident partner at the firm’s New York office from 1996 to 1999. “Loyens & Loeff has always offered me every opportunity to take on new challenges and this appointment illustrates this very well. I am really looking forward to lead, along with my fellow board members, the further development of our firm during the next few years,” says Van der Weijden.
Hamith Breedveld was appointed civil law notary in April 1987 and joined the firm’s real estate practice as a civil law notary in 2002. “Joining Loyens & Loeff was a great experience at the time. Now once again, I appreciate the trust granted by my fellow partners in appointing me as a member of the Executive Board. It is a challenge to help further develop this wonderful firm during the coming years”, says Breedveld.
